I have not read a lot of books in life, but out of the (maybe) 15 books I’ve read, two have been critically influential: [The Secret](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_(Byrne_book)) and [Atomic Habits](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_Habits). Maybe [The Almanack of Naval Ravikant](https://www.navalmanack.com/almanack-of-naval-ravikant/table-of-contents) is something I would put in third place (only because it offers a diverse range of topics unlike the other two).

The Secret touches upon the law of attraction in detail, which is almost borderline superstitious when you read about it, but to me, it is absolutely logical. It is believing with absolute certainty that what you want is what will happen.

This is my reasoning behind it: when you believe that you will get what you truly want, your attitude towards the entire pursuit of getting it changes.

Example: Let’s say you really want to get a promotion at work.

If you believe that you will get promoted, you might not mind picking up a few initiatives at work or spending a few extra hours improving the organization. This attitude indirectly helps you become more valuable at work, which indirectly helps you with the promotion.

Compare that to the opposite case, when you believe that no matter what you do, you are not going to be promoted. This would likely make you slack at work or look for other opportunities, which would indirectly take away your focus from your current job. This would hamper whatever chances you initially had for a promotion.

That’s why I think it is very important to be 100% positive—and even a little delusional—that what you want is going to happen in order to actually make it happen. There are so many more details on this covered in The Secret. I 100% recommend not just reading it but following it.
